Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Reigning champs Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the
primary match of IPL 2021. Attributable to the COVID-19 circumstance, no team will play their
gathering stage games at home, so it would be intriguing how groups adjust and change their
methodologies in like manner.
The last time RCB played in Chennai, they were bowled out for mere 70 runs. While the wicket
looks better this time, Virat Kohli’s men would hope to practice alert and attempt to get their
mission looking winning so far.
RCB’s bowling assault could be a reason for worry, as their new foreign players have almost no
experience of playing in sub-continent conditions. It’ll be intriguing to perceive how any
semblance of Kyle Jamieson and Dan Christian toll this year after RCB paid gobs of cash for
The wicket is going to play slow and I personally am backing RCB to win this contest. RCB have
their set of spinners that could win the match for them. Washington Sundar has been in golden
form for India and he would look to continue that for his franchise as well. The duo of
Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar is any day better for me than the leg spin duo of
Rahul Chahar and Piyush Chawla. Glenn Maxwell would love to contribute with the ball as well.
Then, reigning champs Mumbai Indians, indeed, resemble the group to beat this season.
Quinton De Kock will miss the main game, as he’ll be going through his compulsory isolation
subsequent to showing up from public obligation. Chris Lynn could make his Mumbai Indians
debut in this game.
MI’s spin bowling is one territory of concern, however. Notwithstanding the appearance of
Piyush Chawla, the five-time IPL victors appear to need assortment, and the onus will be on
Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar to convey the merchandise.
The last match played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium helped the spinners, a pattern that
could proceed in the IPL 2021 opener as well. Anything over 150 could be a serious complete on
a drowsy wicket.
My prediction would be to see a close game between both the franchises but I see RCB to take
this one home which is mostly against the odds.
